River Remedy

2023-Current

River Remedy is Mississippi’s first vertically integrated medical marijuana business, overseeing cultivation, processing, and retail operations. Operating in a highly regulated industry with strict advertising prohibitions, River Remedy sought innovative ways to enhance brand visibility while managing costs. The company’s co-founder, Millsaps alum Brad Chism, and CEO William Chism engaged ELSEWORKS to develop “The Green Initiative,” a sustainability-driven strategy that integrates solar energy adoption and electric vehicle (EV) use. Their 37,000-square-foot facility’s significant energy needs—equivalent to that of 200 U.S. homes annually—prompted our team to propose a tailored solar panel system, with an estimated $5 million cost potentially reduced by up to 40% through state and federal incentives.

Complementing the solar plan, we recommended transitioning River Remedy’s delivery fleet to EVs, specifically the Canoo LDV 190 model, selected for its reliability, affordability, and eligibility for substantial tax credits. Our analysis showed EVs could cut fuel and maintenance costs by up to half compared to gas-powered vehicles, making them a sound long-term investment. To maximize delivery efficiency, we also evaluated route planning software and recommended Maptive for its advanced mapping and scalability features. Looking forward, ELSEWORKS continues to support River Remedy by exploring expansion opportunities, analyzing market trends, and leveraging sustainability as a competitive advantage in both operations and branding. Our team recently shared these insights at the Academy of Business Research Conference, further strengthening our expertise in sustainable business practices.
